Brief biography

Frederick Robert (1) Hogger was born in Cambridge in 1859 to parents George (1) Hogger and his first wife Susan (nee) Sayer [Birth Index: Cambridge 3b 509, 1859 (June)].

The 1861 Census finds him at age "2" living with his parents in Cambridge.

The 1871 Census finds him at age "12" living with his father and step-mother at 9, Black Moor Head Yard in St. Clement, Cambridge.

He has not yet been located in the 1881 Census.

In 1883 he married Elizabeth Ann Stone [Marriage Index: Weymouth 5a 545, 1883 (June). She was born in Portland, Dorset in 1859 [Birth Index: Weymouth 5a 336 (unclear), 1859 (June)].

The 1891 Census finds him at age "32" living with his wife and three children at 3, Tunmarsh Lane in West Ham, Essex. He was occupied as a Civil Service Officer with H. M. Customs.

The 1901 Census finds him at age "42" living with his wife and four children at this same address in West Ham. He was occupied as an Examining Officer with H. M. Customs.

The 1911 Census finds him at age "52" living with his wife and five children at 220, Browning Road, Manor Park, East Ham and still occupied as an Examining Officer with H. M. Customs.

By 1935 he had retired and they were living at 51, Kingswood Chase in Leigh-on-Sea, Southend. In that year Elizabeth died, on October 22nd [Death Index: Rochford 4a 772, 1935 (Dec)].

The National Register for England and Wales 1939 finds him at age "59" living with just his daughter Elsie at 51, Kingswood Chase and described as a retired Customs Officer.

He died around early 1945 [Death Index: Southend 4a 1090, 1945 (March)].
