Brief biography

Henry (3) Hogger was born to parents William (4) Hogger and his wife Elizabeth (nee) Andrews. He was born at Great Waldingfield and was christened on October 20th 1833 at Lavenham [PR: Cosford DB].

The 1841 Census finds him at age "7" living with his parents in Slabs Street, Groton.

The 1851 Census finds him at age "17" living with his parents in Groton Street, Groton where he was occupied as a farm labourer.

The 1861 Census finds him at age "26", unmarried and living in the household of a surgeon Henry Thompson at 16, Wimpole Street in St. Marylebone, London where he was occupied as an indoor servant.

The 1871 Census finds him at age "35", unmarried and living in the household of a South African wine merchant William Marjoribanks in Newbold Firs, Leamington in Warwickshire where he was occupied as a domestic servant.

The 1881 Census finds him at age "45", unmarried and lodging in the household of a widow Julia A. Turner in Church Street, Lavenham where he was occupied as a painter.

The 1891 Census finds him at age "57", unmarried and lodging in the household of a spinster Elizabeth Lambert at 23, Station Road in Sudbury where he was again occupied as a painter.

The 1901 Census finds him at age "66", unmarried and boarding in the household of a widowed boarding-house keeper Charlotte Matthews at 28, King Street in Sudbury where he was again occupied as a painter.

He died aged "70" in 1904 [Death Index: Sudbury 4a 509, 1904 (March)].
