The Material

The material comprises genealogical data for individuals having the surname Hogger.

All pages have been composed to ensure fast downloading and browser compatibility. They are uniformly small, are written in maximally simple HTML, make no reliance upon Javascript, CGI scripts, frames or plug-ins and are devoid of graphics.

The material derives from various sources. The most fundamental of these is the Cosford Database established and maintained by Raymond Erle Long. This is a major resource covering innumerable families associated with Suffolk, the county in England where many of the Hoggers came from. Other sources include the Birth-Marriage-Death indexes held by the UK's General Register Office (GRO) - dating from 1837 and covering only England and Wales - as well as census returns, parish records, the IGI and living descendants.

Exploring the Site

The navigation page is the best place to start. It explains the site's structure and navigational arrangements. Without this knowledge, random exploration of links may prove confusing.

To explore a family tree systematically, use one of the links in the Hogger Family Genealogies. To look up directly a particular Hogger individual, use this link to the Hogger section of the Names Directory.
