Brief biography

Mary (6) Hogger was born to parents Peter (1) Hogger and his first wife Theresa (nee) Underwood. She was christened on October 26th 1828 at Brent Eleigh [PR: Cosford DB].

The 1841 Census finds her at age "12" living with her parents in Brent Eleigh.

The 1851 Census finds her at age "22" living at Eyston Hall in Belchamp Walter, Essex, situated about 4 miles west of Sudbury. She was occupied as a cook.

The 1861 Census finds at age "30" living in the Bear Hotel in the High Street of Cookham near Maidenhead, Berkshire where she was occupied as a cook.

The 1871 Census finds at age "33" [but nearer 42] living in Bury Road, Thorpe Morieux as a housekeeper to her unmarried wheelwright brother John (3); also living there was her nephew Samuel Peter (1).

The 1881 Census finds at age "52" still in Bury Road, Thorpe Morieux with John (3); also living there were her nephew William (12) and niece Annie (2).

She never married, and died aged "53" in 1882 [Death Index: Cosford 4a 306, 1882 (Sept)].
