Brief biography

Robert (2) Hogger was born to parents Thomas (3) Hogger and his first wife Mary Anne (nee) Hill, and was christened on May 14th 1837 at Brent Eleigh, Suffolk [PR: Cosford DB].

The 1841 Census finds him at age "4" living with his parents in Brent Eleigh.

The 1851 Census finds him at age "13" living with his parents at Town Hill, Brent Eleigh and occupied as an agricultural labourer.

He married Charlotte (nee) Bradley on June 15th 1860 at Brent Eleigh [Marriage Index: Cosford 4a 449, 1860 (March)]. She was the daughter of John Bradley and his wife Lucy (nee) Alborn [PR: Cosford DB] and was born around early 1841 in or near Bradfield, a few miles south-east of Bury St. Edmunds [Birth Index: Thingoe 13 480, 1841 (March)]. The marriage was witnessed by John Bradley, Mary Ann Bradley, Robert Bradley and Sophia Bradley.

The 1861 Census finds him at age "23" living with Charlotte in a cottage near Brent Eleigh Hall in Brent Eleigh where he was occupied as an agricultural labourer. Their first child Elizabeth (4) had not yet been born.

The 1871 Census finds him at age "34" living with Charlotte and four children in Lavenham Road, Brent Eleigh where he was occupied as an agricultural labourer. He was living next to his father.

The 1881 Census finds them living with three children at Head Street Cottages in Brent Eleigh where Robert (2) was occupied as a labourer.

The 1891 Census finds them living at Street Cottages in Brent Eleigh where Robert (2) was occupied as a farm servant.

The 1901 Census finds them still in Brent Eleigh.

Robert (2) appears to have died aged "87" in 1926 [Death Index: Edmonton 3a 717, 1926 (March)].

Charlotte died aged "79" in 1920 [Death Index: Edmonton 3a 498, 1920 (Sept)].

Alice (2) was christened on December 2nd 1866 at Brent Eleigh [PR: Cosford DB]. The 1891 Census finds her at age "24" occupied as a servant in the household of a widowed brickmaker Benjamin Looker [? - unclear] at Cromwell House, Kingston Hill in Kingston upon Thames, Surrey. In 1899 she married George James Allen [Marriage Index: Kingston 2a 474, 1899 (March)]. He was born in Kingston around early 1873 [Birth Index: Kingston 2a 295, 1873 (March)]. The 1901 Census finds them living with one child at 115, Elm Road in Kingston where George James was occupied as a slater.
