Susanna Phoebe (1) Hogger was born in 1856 to parents James (3) Hogger and his wife Sarah (nee) Snell [Birth Index: Cosford 4a 411, 1856 (June)]. She was christened on June 1st 1856 at Lavenham [PR: Cosford DB].
The 1861 Census finds her at age "5" living with her parents in Church Street, Lavenham.
The 1871 Census finds her at age "15" and unmarried, still living with her parents in Church Street and still attending school.
The 1881 Census finds her at age 25, unmarried and living in the household of her brother James (7) at Bears Lane in Lavenham. Her occupation is given as "formerly schoolmistress".
In 1888 she married a gardener Alfred George Pizzey [Marriage Index: Cosford 4a 829, 1888 (Sept)]. He was born in 1861 [Birth Index: Cosford 4a 459, 1861 (June)]. His mother was Sarah Ann (nee) Clarke. Susanna and Alfred married on August 2nd 1888 at Preston St. Mary; the register describes him as a gardener whose father was a nurseryman Edward Pizzey; the witnesses were Ada Wells Gould, whose connection is unknown, and James Hogger who may have been her father or her brother.
The 1891 Census finds her at age "32" living with her husband and their first two sons in the High Street, Hadleigh. Alfred George was occupied as a market gardener. His parents were living in the same street. His father's birthplace is given as Enfield, Middlesex. Also in Susanna's household was her unmarried sister Lydia Jane (1).
The 1901 Census finds the family still living in the High Street and Alfred George again occupied as a market gardener.
The 1911 Census finds the family living at 5, Queen Street in Hadleigh and Alfred George again occupied as a market gardener.
Alfred George died aged "51" in 1912 [Death Index: Cosford 4a 770, 1912 (Sept)].
Susanna Phoebe (1) died aged "75" in 1931 [Death Index: Cosford 4a 902, 1931 (June)].
Winifred Alice was nicknamed "Madge" by her parents in her childhood.
