William (4) Hogger

Brief biography

William (4) Hogger was born to parents Thomas (2) Hogger and his wife Jemima (nee) Pilgrim. He was christened on October 12th 1807 at Lavenham [PR: Cosford DB]. His occupation was given as wheelwright in all the censuses from 1841 up to 1881.

He married Elizabeth (nee) Andrews on April 9th 1833 at Great Waldingfield [PR: Cosford DB, IGI: Batch M062971]. Elizabeth was born to parents John Andrews and his wife Mary (nee) Rash on September 22nd 1803 at Great Waldingfield and was christened there on October 2nd 1803 [PR: Cosford DB].

The 1841 Census finds him living with his family in Slabs Lane, Groton.

The 1851 Census finds him living with his family in Groton Street, Groton.

The 1861 Census finds them still in Groton Street. Their household included William (4)'s married daughter-in-law Jane - wife of his son Ambrose (1) - and two of her children.

The 1871 Census finds them at the Parsonage in Groton Street. One household there comprised just William (4) and Elizabeth, whilst another was headed by their son Benjamin (1), now married with two children of his own.

The 1881 Census finds William (4) and Elizabeth living at 10, Groton Street in Groton.

William (4) died aged "80" in 1888 [Death Index: Cosford 4a 339, 1888 (June)].

Elizabeth died aged "87" in 1890 [Death Index: Cosford 4a 444, 1890 (Dec)].
