Mary Alice (1) Livesey was born on November 4th 1884 to parents John (5) Livesey and his wife Eliza Ann Turner [Birth Index: Salford 8d 123, 1885 (March)]. No christening record has yet been found for her.
The 1891 Census finds her at age "6" living with her parents at 24, Wood Street.
The 1901 Census finds her at age "16", unmarried and still living with her parents at 24, Wood Street. She was working, like her sister Isabella (1), as a paper cutter.
She married on August 29th 1903 at the Sacred Trinity Church in Salford to Edward Gunshon [Marriage Index: Salford 8d 169, 1903 (Sept)]. His occupation was entered in the register as painter. Her abode was given as 22, Wood Street and his as 24, Wood Street.
The 1911 Census finds them with their first four children living at 103, Bury Street in Salford, together with two other families; altogether there were 15 people there in just four rooms, including a kitchen. Edward was occupied as a house painter.
The National Register for England and Wales 1939 finds them with several children still living at 103, Bury Street, describing Edward as a house and ship painter and born on April 22nd 1884. Their son Edward - a French polisher - and his wife Eliza were living nearby at No. 111.
Mary Alice (1) died in 1965 [Death Index: Salford 10f 525, 1965 (Dec)].
Her husband Edward died in 1972 [Death Index: Salford 10f 1511, 1972 (Dec) - DOB 14MY1884]; this date of birth differs by three weeks from the one he cited in 1939.
