Notes

Alfred (1) Woodhurst was admitted to Middlesex County's lunatic asylum at Hanwell, Middlesex in 1877. The detailed records of his life there are contained in the asylum's Male Casebook No. 4 - covering patients admitted during 1877-78 [LMA: Piece H11/HLL/B20/13] - and the Continuation Book covering patients admitted during 1873-94 [LMA: Piece H11/HLL/B20/44]. These two volumes are held in the London Metropolitan Archives and are officially closed until the years 2003 and 2028 respectively.

Permission to view and transcribe the records for Alfred (1) was kindly granted to the site author in January 2001 by the Ealing, Hammersmith and Fulham Mental NHS Trust in Southall, Middlesex. The conditions entailed in that permission preclude the publication of those records at the present time.
