Brief biography

Alice Evangeline Woodhurst was born in 1875 to parents George Daniel Woodhurst and his first wife Lauretta Evangeline. Her GRO birth reference is [Birth Index: W. Ham 4a 101, 1875 (Dec)]. She was baptized at St. John's Church in Hackney on October 3rd 1875, when her parents were then living at Loddiges Road in Hackney [LMA: Film X043 / 005, Baptism Record 2080].

The 1881 Census finds her at age 5 living with her parents 136, Lea Bridge Gardens in Lea Bridge Road, Leyton in Essex.

The 1891 Census finds her at age 15 living with her father and step-mother at 24, Northcote Road in Walthamstow in Essex.

The 1901 Census finds her at age 25 visiting the family of John Newlands at 47, Elmsdale Road in Walthamstow. She was occupied as a telegraphist.

On May 4th 1928 she departed from London on the Australia-bound ship RMS Mooltan, her destination being Tangier, Morocco. The ship's manifest describes her as a Civil Servant aged 51.

She did not marry and is presumed to have had no children. She died aged 89 around early 1965 [Death Index: Rochford 4a 842, 1965 (March)].
