Anna Mary (1) Woodhurst was born in Indiana around 1875 to parents Hazard (1) Woodhurst and his wife Margaret Jane Hayden. Some sources render her middle name as May rather than Mary.

She married at a place near Perry, Ralls Co. on August 12th 1896 to Edwin Jackson Davis. Their entry in the Missouri register of Marriage Returns describes them both as residing in Perry. Edwin was born in Illinois in 1875, reportedly on January 28th.

The US 1900 Census finds them living in Salt River township, Ralls Co. with their first child Annie. Edwin was occupied as a coal miner.
