Anna M. Woodhurst was born in 1878 to parents William (5) Woodhurst and his wife Hellen (nee Darling).
The US 1880 Census finds her at age "1" living with her parents at Delmar township in Clinton County, Iowa.
The US 1900 Census finds her at age "22" living in the household of a butcher James E. Vore in Columbus Street, Wapsinonoc township, Muscatine County in Iowa, unmarried and occupied as a servant. The record states that she was born in Iowa in February 1878 and that her father was born in England.
It is suspected that she married a man with surname Ellis and subsequently separated from him. The US 1920 Census finds an "Anna Ellis" occupied as housekeeper to an unmarried electrician Ray Hemphill in Davenport City, Scott County in Iowa. The record gives her age as 41, her birthplace as Iowa, her father's birthplace as England and her mother's birthplace as Iowa - all these details matching what is known of Anna M. Moreover, boarding in the same household was Anna M.'s unmarried sister Hazel (1).
Nothing more is currently known of her.
