Emmeline (1) Woodhurst was born at Murston near Sittingbourne in 1879 [Birth Index: Milton 2a 827, 1879 (Sept)] of parents Daniel Woodhurst and Priscilla Hales.
In 1884 she emigrated with her mother and siblings to America, sailing from Liverpool on the City of Montreal and arriving at Michigan on July 26th 1884.
Descendants' reports state the following: she was born on July 5th 1879 and died on May 18th 1943; she married a man named Joseph McKnight, known familiarly as "Percy"; Joseph was born in England and emigrated to America around 1900 when aged about 22; he went to Kentucky and thence to Brooklyn, Michigan where he died around 1940-45; his son Gilbert was born on January 3rd 1909 in Jackson, Michigan; Gilbert produced a son Wayne, born at Adrian, Michigan on July 12th 1934; Wayne married Elizabeth Drifill in 1955 and produced three children Barry, Richard and Roberta, all born in Tecumseh, Michigan; Wayne later moved to Tucson, Arizona; Roberta produced a daughter named Mandy; Joseph's daughter Marie married a man with surname Miller, whilst Genevieve married a man with surname Hardy.
