The material comprises genealogical data for individuals having the surname Woodhurst. Woodhursts are rare across the world, and correspondingly so also is reliable data concerning them.
All pages have been composed to ensure fast downloading and browser compatibility. They are uniformly small, are written in maximally simple HTML, make no reliance upon Javascript, CGI scripts, frames or plug-ins and are devoid of graphics.
The primary focus is the determination of the genealogical relationships between all known Woodhursts in the 18th, 19th and 20th centuries. All of them originated from English families, and the origins of many have been revealed through the Birth-Marriage-Death indexes held by the General Register Office (GRO) at the London Family Records Centre (FRC). These records date from 1837 and cover only England and Wales. Most of the Woodhursts recorded there belong to one or other of several distinct family trees (the 'Woodhurst Family Genealogies' listed on the home page) between which no connections have yet been firmly proved. Future research may establish that two or more of these trees are in fact connected and can be coalesced into a single tree. Data from the GRO indexes and associated certificates has been supplemented by data from other sources such as census returns, parish records, the IGI and living descendants. Where documentary sources underlie the material presented, specific references are cited to facilitate independent evaluation.
