James (4) Woodhurst was christened on September 24th 1809 [Fairlight Parish Register]. His father is named in the register as Andrew Woodhurst and his mother as Mary. His father was probably Andrew (4) Woodhurst, although the latter was by that time married to a woman named Ann.
He does not appear under Woodhurst in the GRO Marriage or Death Indexes and in later life may have been using the variant spelling of Woodhouse, as also was Andrew (4) in 1851.
The 1851 Census finds him aged "41" and married, living at 34, Montague Place in St. George Bloomsbury, London occupied as a butler in the household of a banker William G. Whatman.
Nothing more is currently known of him.
