The 1901 Census finds them living at 41, Temple Street in Portsmouth where Charles was working as a ship's chandler. Her birthplace is given as Fratton, which used to be a small village within Portsea parish. Also with them was their 2-year-old son Charles Thomas Edward, born in Landport.
