His birth certificate [Birth Index: Portsea 2b 431, 1862 (Dec)] states that he was born at his parents' address 11, Carlisle Street, Southsea - in the Landport subdistrict of Portsea Island - on October 24th 1862. His father was occupied as a police constable and his mother was the informant.
He died at Portsea the following year [Death Index: Portsea 2b 263, 1863 (Sept)].
