Brief biography

Mary Ann (2) Woodhurst was born in Islington in 1868 to parents William (7) Woodhurst and his wife Mary Ann Newcomb. Her GRO birth reference is [Birth Index: Islington 1b 306, 1868 (June)].

The 1871 Census finds her at age 3 living with her parents at 6, Piercefield Street, Kentish Town in Pancras.

The 1881 Census finds her at age 13 living with her parents at 3, Osman Road in Edmonton, Middlesex.

In 1888 she married Henry Marshall [Marriage Index: Edmonton 3a 315, 1888 (June)]. He was born in Peckham, Surrey around 1865-66.

The 1891 Census finds her with Henry and two children living at 2, Kenninghall Road in Edmonton, about half a mile south-east of Osman Road where her parents were still living. Henry was occupied as a general labourer.

The 1901 Census finds the family, with just the same two children, living at 150, Angel Road in Edmonton. Henry was now occupied as a builder's labourer and Mary Ann (2) as a dress maker.

The 1911 Census finds the family, with just their son Henry (2), still living at 150, Angel Road, with Henry employed as a gas stoker.

The National Register for England & Wales 1939 finds Mary Ann (2) widowed and living alone at 66, Angel Road in Edmonton, her date of birth given as March 9th 1868.

Mary Ann (2) probably died in 1941 aged "73" [Death Index: Edmonton 3a 995, 1941 (Dec)].
