Brief biography

Robert Keith Woodhurst was born in Salt Lake City, Utah on April 3rd 1918 to parents Charles Grant Woodhurst and his wife Evelyn ("Iva") Marie (nee) Fry.

The US 1920 Census finds him aged "1" living with his parents in Hawthorne Avenue, Salt Lake City.

The US 1930 Census finds him aged "12" living with his parents in Denver, Colorado.

The US 1940 Census finds him aged "22" lodging in Main Street, Grand Junction in Mesa Co., Colorado where he was occupied as a labourer for a novelty store. His Draft registration Card, issued in about 1940, gives his address as 1601, North 7th Street in Grand Junction and his employer as S. H. Kress of Main Street.

In 1941 he married Gladys Elouise (nee) Marsden at Grand Junction in Colorado. She was born in Colorado on April 22nd 1919 to parents Earl Thomas Marsden and his wife Louise May (nee) Harms.

A City Directory for San Rafael, California in 1960 lists Robert and Gladys living there at 5, Echo Place, giving his occupation as engineer for the State Highway Department.

They were still living in San Rafael when their daughter Barbara Jo married there in 1967.

He died at the Sutter General Hospital in Sacramento, California on January 5th 1996. His death certificate gives the cause as pulmonary edema due to coronary artery disease over a period of four years. He is described as a civil engineer working in transportation for the California Highway Department. He had been residing at 104, Dahlia Avenue.

The American Social Security Death Index gives his SSN, issued in Colorado, as 523-10-4073.

Gladys died in Prescott, Yavapai Co., Arizona on October 2nd 2008.

Barbara Jo was born on October 23rd 1943. She married at San Rafael, California in July 1967 to Michael Neil Blackie. They were both teachers.
