Russell John Woodhurst was born to John Elmer Woodhurst and his wife Anna Elizabeth (nee Morris) on January 25th 1912 in Richmond, Indiana.
The US 1920 Census finds him at age 7 living with his parents in Richmond City.
He married Ruth Verna Rife on November 23rd 1938.
Ruth Verna was born in Aurora, Colorado on February 15th 1919 of parents David E. Rife and Nellie Ruby Harrison, who married in June 1916. Nellie was born in Carbon township, Clay County, Indiana on February 13th 1883. David died on August 4th 1952 and Nellie on July 4th 1956; both are buried at the Fairmount Cemetery in Denver, Colorado. Besides Ruth Verna, they produced another daughter Helen Rife - formerly a resident of Anchorage, Alaska and subsequently of Navarre, Florida - who married Cliff Niewendorp and who has undertaken extensive research and publication of Harrison genealogy.
Russell John served in the armed forces during WW2.
His Social Security Number was 521-09-1957 and Ruth Verna's was 521-16-5998, both originally issued in Colorado.
He died in Salt Lake City, Utah on June 18th 1992 and was buried at the Murray City Cemetery on June 23rd in grave 16-064-8. His obituary was published in The Salt Lake Tribune [June 22nd 1992 edition, page D12]. His widow Ruth Verna died in Salt Lake City on January 31st 1994 and was buried next to him on February 4th in grave 16-064-7. Her obituary was published in The Deseret News on February 3rd 1994.
