Brief biography

Richard William (2) Woodhurst was born in 1846 to parents Richard William (1) Woodhurst (RWW) and his first wife Susannah Miller. His birth certificate [Birth Index: Poplar II 333, 1847 (March)] shows that he was born at his parents' residence 21, Tetley Street, Bromley (that is, Bromley-by-Bow, a mile or so east of Stepney) on December 14th 1846. RWW's occupation is given as labourer. The birth was not registered until six weeks later, on January 27th 1847.

Richard William (2) died in 1848. The death certificate [Death Index: Stepney 2 423, 1848 (March)] states that he died aged 13 months at his parents' home address 6, George Street in Limehouse on January 11th 1848. His father's occupation was labourer and his mother was the informant. The cause of death was certified as "Mesenteric disease", that is, was owed to some part of the intestine becoming attached, by a fold in the peritoneum, to the posterior abdominal wall.
