Susannah May Woodhurst was born in 1891 to parents Richard William (3) Woodhurst and his second wife Jane Ann (nee Stanford) Wright. Her birth certificate [Birth Index: Hackney 1b 569, 1891 (March)] states that she was born on January 15th 1891 at her parents' address 8, Clarkes (sic) Terrace, Glyn Road in Lower Clapton. Her father, occupied as a laundryman, was the informant.
The 1891 Census finds her at age 3 months living at that same address with her parents.
The 1901 Census her at age 10 living with her parents at 56, Chatham Place in Hackney.
She married her cousin James Richard Abbott in 1920 [Marriage Index: Hackney 1b 925, 1920 (Dec)]. His mother was Jane's sister Rachel (nee Stanford). After raising her children she worked in a laundry. A relative reports that Rachel, who lived at Whiston Road in Haggerston, also had a daughter Jane having a middle forename Mabel or Margaret. Susannah May lived in the same Whiston Road, then in Theydon Road (Upper Clapton) and then in Hertford Road (Hackney).
James E. Abbott married and produced three children - Susan (now deceased), Steven and another boy with name unknown [relative's report].
Lilian M. Abbott died aged 2 around early 1929 [Death Index: Shoreditch 1c 127, 1929 (March)].
